The information provided through this online service is being gathered by Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) in accordance with sections 13 and 71.1 of the Privacy Act, sections 8 and 11 of the Privacy Regulations, sections 6, 11 and 92 of the Access to Information Act as well as section 4 of the Access to Information Regulations on behalf of participating institutions for requests submitted under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act and for the ongoing evaluation and improvement of the platform.

The information relating to your online request will be retained for two years after it is marked complete on this platform. Institutions who receive your request will maintain separate files in accordance with the Standard personal information bank for Access to Information Act and Privacy Act Requests.

If you create an account in ATIP Online, you will be redirected to Sign-In Canada to register your user credentials. Credential information is not shared with or stored in ATIP Online. ATIP Online will only receive a confirmation that you have validated your user credentials each time you log in.

You may be redirected to a secure and trusted third party web site (Moneris Solutions (opens new window)) to process payment of application fees under the Access to Information Act. Your name, credit card number, expiry date and security code (CVV2) will be collected by that service in order to process your payment but will not be shared with ATIP Online. You will receive a notification of a successful payment as a confirmation that application fees were paid to the Receiver General of Canada.

The personal information you provide will only be used and disclosed as described in Personal Information Bank for Access to Information and Privacy Online Requests PIB (PCE 805) and in accordance with section 8 of the Privacy Act. Under the Privacy Act, you have the right to request access to your personal information held by a government institution and to request corrections, should you believe the information you provided contains errors or omissions. To request a correction to your personal information, please contact the appropriate ATIP Coordinator.

You also have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) at any time regarding any federal government institution’s handling of your personal information. To help protect your privacy, you are asked not to provide your SIN, unless specifically instructed. Some institutions such as the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) or Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) may require the SIN to properly identify personal information and are authorized to use the SIN for this purpose.

It is your choice to provide this personal information. If you do not provide this personal information, it will not be possible to process your request.

Security Warning: If you are using this service on a shared computer in a public area (i.e. public kiosk or library), do not leave the computer unattended while accessing this service.
